Information architecture process

How do we approach information architecture?

Whether it is an existing IA being improved, or a new IA being designed, understanding how your users think about the content on the site is vital to informing any changes. Insights from research activities such as, true Intent surveys, card sorting and tree testing help to inform what tasks users are trying to complete, what their mental models are relating to the content you have and where they expect to find things in an IA structure.

Why do we focus on information architecture?

A well-designed IA is fundamental to user satisfaction and engagement. It ensures that users can swiftly locate and interact with content, leading to a more positive user experience. Effective IA also supports search engine optimisation and facilitates the efficient dissemination of information.

When do we focus on information architecture?

Information architecture research and design can be undertake in the early stages of project development or it can undertaken to support to uplift of an existing product once it is already in market.
