Contextual inquiry process
How do we undertake contextual inquiry?
The process involves our researchers observing behaviours, asking open-ended questions and documenting experiences while immersed in the users' natural environment. Participants are asked to use a think aloud approach so that we can gather real-world insights, enabling a comprehensive understanding of user needs within their specific context.
Why do we conduct contextual inquiry?
Contextual inquiries offer a unique window into the user's world, providing deep and authentic insights. By observing and interacting with users in their natural environment, we gain a comprehensive understanding of their behaviours and needs. This real-world context is invaluable in informing design decisions and creating solutions that are fit for purpose and appropriate for your audience.
When do we conduct contextual inquiry?
Contextual Inquiries are strategically conducted at the early stages of research and design. They provide a foundational understanding of user behaviour in their natural settings.
