User Experience Design

As User Experience (UX) design experts, we aim to improve the interaction between an organisation and their users. We achieve this by using a set of tried and tested user centered design methods.

Understand

We work with stakeholders to understand their problem. We do this through a variety of different activities designed to gather and clarify objectives from the business, once understood we then align business goals with the needs of a user.

Research

A variety of research methods are used to best understand user needs from a product or service. As part of this phase we seek to not only understand the people using a product or service but also the environment and context in which it is being used. The insights gained from research are critical to successful design.

Design

Once we understand the problem and the environment in which it will exist we can begin to explore designs.

  • Sketching – We use sketching as an efficient way of capturing and clearly communicating concepts. This phase is often a collaborative effort during stakeholder engagement or collaboration between the Nomat team.
  • Wire-framing – We use wire-frames to provide a clear outline of the structure of a site. This phase helps to translate business objectives and user needs into tangible visual structure. Wire-frames are simple, low fidelity layouts that are stripped of any visual detail to keep conversation focused on the function of the design as posed to the form.
  • Prototyping – We build prototypes that allow us to effectively and efficiently test and validate concepts, propositions and various states of designs. These prototypes often take, but not limited to a digital form with differing levels of fidelity and complexity. With our understanding of the research process, we tailor the prototype to specifically target the research objectives.
  • Guidance – We provide design guidance and documentation to assist in the future rollout of work and to foster development of ongoing User Centred design thinking within organisations.

Validate

We recommend, where every possible, to test early and test often. We use a variety of different techniques to validate our work allowing us flexibility to work within budgets and time constraints.
